The Atlas Academy has been renamed to Atlas Lab. It will take place between 27 August and 5 September 2016 at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

The Atlas Lab offers a wide range of activities:
1 Atelier for the creation of new repertoire
Composers and musicians from all over the world come together to study and research the possibilities to create new intercultural music during a week of experimental sessions and workshops.
2 Masterclasses for instrumentalists
Masterclasses and lessons by top soloists like Dhruba Ghosh, Kiya Tabassian, Naomi Sato, Elshan Mansurov, Charbel Rouhana, Harrie Starreveld and others.
3 Concerts and demonstrations of Middle Eastern and Asian instruments
lutes – 'ud, tar, setar, pipa
bowed strings – erhu, kamancha, sarangi, kemençe
zithers – qanun, santur, zheng, koto
wind instruments – shakuhachi, duduk, sheng, sho
4 Lectures and documentation
Lectures by invited guest speakers address a variety of perspectives. The activities of the Atlas Lab are documented (audiovisual and written) with the objective to build a comprehensive digital library.
Some of the pieces will be selected for performance in November in the Netherlands.
